Model Prayers

One of the most effective ways to pray is to pray the word of God and personalize it so it applies to either yourself or others for whom you are praying. Below are some model prayers that you can pray that are built directly from God’s word. One caution: Just reading these prayers Like reading a book will do you little if any good. This is God’s word that we are praying to God himself. These are his inspired words. Take them to heart and pray them from your heart, from a place of faith. Maybe spend a little time meditating on what you will pray before you pray it. At any rate, this is just one very effective way to pray. It isn’t a magic formula.

Prayer for people who don't know Jesus

“Father, I pray for (the unsaved) and ask you to take out their heart of stone and give them a new heart of flesh, circumcise their heart so they will love you. Father, grant them repentance and a knowledge of the truth that they may escape from the snare of the devil, open their hearts so that they believe the gospel. Put your Spirit within them and cause them to walk in your statutes.” (Ezekiel 11:19, Deuteronomy 30:6, Ezekiel 36:27, 2 Timothy 2:25-26, Acts 16:14)

Prayer for Personal Fruitfulness

“Father, I ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of you, Lord, fully pleasing to you: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to you Father, who have qualified me to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. You have delivered me from the domain of darkness and transferred me to the kingdom of your beloved Son, in whom I have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:9-14 ESV – personalized
